I did this piece a fair while back now -
just found it again on my flash drive.
They don't call it the cycle of violence for nothing.
I am one of many women (and yes, occasionally men)
who have suffered physically and emotionally from the immediate and long term consequences of Domestic Violence.
He hasn't been violent since he was treated adequately for Bipolar Disorder...... but I find it hard to love him these days.
I regret deeply that our two girls witnessed his abusive behaviour and had to go into care (they're home now) because of his shit.

it's sad, and we generally don't respect an apology if there isn't a change!
i have heard of people (male/female) with bipolar disorder who do something wild (like run off and commit adultery), and later come back begging the family to let them back.
i am thankful that the doctors have (taken 5 years to find) the right mix of medication for me. my wife left me, but i'm thankful that i never "hurt" anyone physically nor became sexually immoral.
but at the same time, i know that wicked to the core are humans, and so my desperate prayer is that Christ is in me.
